Hubby is home real late most of the days from work. Times range from 9pm to early morning next day 4am kind off. There are days when he continuously works for 2 days in a stretch. Around 8.30 to 9pm, TIny picks up the phone and dials her dad's cell..
Tiny: Appa when are you coming home?
Hubby: Will be there in half an hour..
Tiny: Where are you?
Hubby: Am entering NICE road (name of the road)
Tiny: How many kilometers from there to Home?
Hubby:12 kms
Tiny: Is there traffic?
Hubby: Not Much.. What is Little doing?
Obviously the whole convo is on the speaker phone and Little shouts from his room..
Little: Appa I am busy with my laptop [toy one but that has a lot of activities in it] repair. I cannot come.
Hubby : Ok
Little then comes running from the room.
Little: Appa, where are you?
Hubby: On Nice Road and will be entering a local road soon
Little: Ok, Appa... can you stop by Vinayaka [shop name] and get me a few batteries for my laptop?
Hubby reaches home with batteries and tells me, You son has his priorities right. Tiny's need for us to reach home early and be with her and Little's own world of remotes cars and batteries are so contradicting sometimes....

Rhyming Words
Last evening I was with my son reading a book on phonics. It did have a few activities in it. He loves such activity books and he took the lead in reading and answering them. He is in UKG now and assuming that he knew what rhyming words meant, i read out a question in the book that said:
Pictures of objects are given. Spell the words and tick Yes if they are rhyming and No if they are not.
There was a picture of a Hen and a Pen. He said them correctly and continued to say:
He: Amma, Hen sings in the mornings but Pen does not sing. So what should i do???
Only then the tubelight in me realised that he took rhyming to mean that which sings. Just then Tiny walks in laughing her heart out
Tiny: Dumbo ....You don't know rhyming words??? Why are you going to school???
Me: Jaws dropped...
